Cumilla Adarsh Sadar Upazila Parishad Election Chairman Ed. Md. Aminul Islam Tutul Vice Chairman Ahmed Niaz Pabel and Women Vice Chairman Ed. Hossaneyara Begum Bakul has been declared elected unopposed Yesterday (May 2) 6th Upazila Parishad Returning Officer and Comilla Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Pankaj Baraya signed a public notice announcing the election of three candidates.

It is known that the last day for submission of nomination papers in the Cumilla Adarsh Sadar Upazila Parishad elections held in the second phase was on 21st April, till that day no other candidates submitted their nomination papers except these three candidates. As there were no candidates, the three candidates were declared unopposed winners last Wednesday (May 1). Meanwhile, Cumilla Metropolitan Awami League president Bir Muktijoddha ACM Bahauddin Bahar, a confidant of MP, congratulated the three in advance on social media. Cumilla District Senior Election Officer Md. Munir Hossain Khan said that in the second phase, elections are being held in the three upazilas of Cumilla Adarsh Sadar, Sadar Dakshin and Barura. April 21 is the last day to submit nomination papers online. 1 candidate has submitted nomination papers for each position inb Cumilla Adarsh Sadar.

Their nomination papers are valid. As there is no contesting candidate in this upazila, there is no need for voting, they have been declared unopposed. It is noted that the current chairman of Sadar Upazila Parishad Ed. Aminul Islam Tutul was elected vice chairman of Adarsh Sadar Upazila Parishad as a candidate supported by Awami League in the upazila parishad election on May 19, 2014, then the principal Md. After the death of Abdur Rauf, the post of chairman became void, Adarsh Sadar was elected upazila chairman as Awami League nominated candidate in the by-election on March 6, 2016, and later he was elected unopposed as upazila chairman in 2019 election as well.

During his tenure as Vice-Chairman Acting Chairman and Chairman, under the direction of Cumilla Sadar Constituency MP Birmuktijoddha A.K.M. Bahauddin Bahar, the creative activities he has been carrying out in the development of the education system of the upazila have already been widely appreciated. In 2018, he was elected the best upazila chairman at the district level. And in 2023, he was selected as the best chairman of Chittagong division and competed at the national level. On the other hand, Ahmed Niaz Pabel, joint general secretary of Adarsh Sadar Upazila Awami League, won the vice-chairman post for the first time. Ahmed Niaz Pabel, a resident of the suburb's Shirangacha area, was known as a good student leader and loved by the brave freedom fighter ACM Bahauddin Bahar MP. Niaz Pabel is now also appreciated as a worker-friendly leader.
