Case filed at Pirgachha against alleged obstruction on residential road with fence

A local BNP leader has been accused of obstructing traffic on residential road with tin fence in Pirgachha, Rangpur. The incident took place in Rahmatchar village of Tambulpur union of the upazila.
On July 11, Shafiqul Islam filed a case with Pirgachha police station against Raich Uddin (60), son of Ramzan Ali of that village, Raich Uddin's son Abdul Matin (40), Moshiar Rahman (35) and Abdur Razzak alias Reshan (25). However, the police have not been able to arrest any of the accused so far.
According to the case source, Shafiqul Islam, the younger son of Ramzan Ali of Rahmatchar village, is a food trader in Nayarhat. The accused tried to harm Shafiqul and his family by creating disputes over family and ancestral land. On the evening of July 8, the day of the incident, he set off on a motorcycle with two hundred and eighty thousand five hundred taka to pay for paddy and corn purchased from various owners.
On the way, Ward BNP General Secretary Roych Uddin and many others premeditatedly detained him and took him away on a motorcycle. Then, they beat Shafiqul Islam with sharp weapons with the intention of killing him and tied a nylon rope around his neck. At that time, they took out the two hundred and eighty thousand five hundred taka with him. Later, the injured Shafiqul Islam was admitted to the Upazila Health Complex for treatment. Taking this opportunity, since no one was at home, the Roych Uddins closed the road and shop of his residence with a tin fence.
Shafiqul Islam's mother Rahima Begum said, "Someone beat my father (Shafiqul) like this." Her mother wants justice for Roych Uddin. She also said that Roych forcibly put up a tin fence. We are unable to move now.
However, Raich Uddin claimed his own land and put up a tin fence.
The investigation officer (SI) of the case, Nur Alam, said that the matter is family. They told us that they would settle it through family means, so the accused was not arrested.
