A brazen burglary took place at "Kamranga," the ancestral home of National Film Award-winning actor and singer Fazlur Rahman Babu, located in the West Alipur area under Ward 10 of the Faridpur Municipality.

Miscreants stole electrical wiring, garage wires, and the internal copper wiring of two split air conditioners from the residence.

Expressing deep concern over the rising menace of theft and growing insecurity in the area, Fazlur Rahman Babu stated that although he primarily resides in Dhaka due to professional commitments, he visits his ancestral home in Faridpur once or twice a month. He discovered the burglary upon arriving at the house on Monday night and subsequently reported the incident to the local police station by filing a GD.

An inspection of the house revealed that the thieves had severed all electrical lines and garage wiring throughout the residence. Due to the prolonged disruption in power connectivity, food items and other essentials stored in the refrigerator were ruined. Furthermore, upon inspecting the roof, it was found that miscreants had vandalized two split air conditioners to extract and steal their internal copper wiring.

Fazlur Rahman Babu mentioned that electrical wiring from his house was stolen in a similar fashion about six to seven months ago. He noted that such thefts targeting air conditioners, electrical cables, and garage equipment are becoming regular occurrences not just at his home, but across many neighboring houses as well.

"West Alipur was once known as a quiet and safe neighborhood," he said, adding that a recent surge in thefts and various crimes has caused widespread insecurity among the residents.

According to locals, criminal syndicates have significantly escalated their activities in the area. Recently, a theft also occurred at the historic, memory-laden residence of Palli Kabi Jasimuddin, where a man named Swapan was caught red-handed while cutting wires, local sources reported.

Victims have lodged general diaries regarding these incidents with the Faridpur Kotwali Police Station.
