Bulbul-Matin-Papia won Gobindaganj Upazila Parishad elections

Gaibandhar Gobindaganj on Tuesday, May 21, in the second phase of the sixth upazila parishad election, Shakil Akand Bulbul (Pineapple) as chairman, M. as vice chairman. A Matin Mollah (glasses) and Papiya Roy Pakhi (sewing machine) won the post of female vice chairman.
Assistant Returning Officer and Gobindganj Upazila Executive Officer Russell Mia announced the names of the winners based on the results of 172 centers in the upazila parishad hall at around 4 pm on Tuesday.
Shakil Akand got 91048 votes in the symbol of bulbul (pineapple) for the post of chairman, his nearest rival Abdul Latif got 82045 in the symbol of pradhan (motorcycle).
Among the five contenders for the position of vice chairman, M. A. Matin Mollah (glasses) got 65963 votes, his closest rival Shariful Islam Taju (mic) got 57537 votes.
Among the seven contestants for the post of female vice-chairman, Papia Rani Das got 45214 votes on the (sewing machine) symbol, while her closest rival Umm Jahan Rinku (butterfly) got 34052 votes.
The total number of voters in 17 unions and one municipality of Gobindaganj upazila is 4,45,805. Average voting percentage is 39.6 percent.
