Khagrachhari Correspondent

Fourteen more people have been pushed into Bangladesh by India’s Border Security Force (BSF) through the Matiranga border in Khagrachhari early Friday (May 30).

They entered through the Aam Bagan border area under Taindong Union. Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) later detained them.

Among the 14, twelve are from Kurigram and two from Dinajpur. They are currently staying at the Dipipara Government Primary School under the supervision of the 23 BGB Yamini Para Battalion.

According to the detainees, they had been working at a brick kiln in Haryana, India. Indian authorities arrested them and later transported them by air to Agartala, Tripura. From there, they were forcibly sent across the border into Bangladesh.

Khagrachhari Deputy Commissioner ABM Iftekharul Islam Khandakar said the authorities are verifying their nationality.

With this latest incident, a total of 132 people have been pushed into Bangladesh through different border points in Khagrachhari this month. Among them, 118 have already been handed over to their families.
