One day after recovering the body of a young girl named Sujana from a lake in Purbachal, Rupganj, police have found the body of her friend Kabbya. On Wednesday morning.
Kabbya’s body was discovered in the lake in Sector 2 of Purbachal New Town, near the Baurartek area on the Kanchan-Kuril Highway.
The deceased, Kabbya, was a tenth-grade student at Adamjee Cantonment School and College in Dhaka, while Sujana was a twelfth-grade science student at Bashantek Government College. According to the police, Sujana and Kabbya were friends.
Mehedi Islam, Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police (G Circle) in Narayanganj, stated that on Monday (December 16) afternoon, Sujana left her home, saying she was going to visit a friend. However, she did not return home that night. Police identified a helmet found with Sujana’s body as belonging to Kabbya, as confirmed by his family.
He added that both Sujana and Kabbya were residents of Mirpur. While Sujana’s body was found earlier, Kabbya was still missing. On Wednesday morning, police recovered Kabbya’s body from another side of the same lake.
At a press conference, Narayanganj District Police Superintendent Pratyush Kumar Majumdar said initial findings suggest the incident might have been caused by overspeeding on a motorcycle. However, further conclusions, including whether it was a case of homicide, will depend on the autopsy report.
Earlier, on Tuesday (December 17), police recovered Sujana’s body from another part of the same lake. A small bag and a motorcycle helmet were found near her body.
