
Boat rally in Louhajang on Jatka Conservation Week

With the slogan "If catching jatka stops, hilsa nets will fill up", a discussion meeting, procession, and boat rally were held in Louhajang, Munshiganj, on the occasion of Jatka Conservation Week on Tuesday morning at the Louhajang University College field, organized by the Upazila Administration and Upazila Fisheries Office.
Presided over by Senior Upazila Fisheries Officer Md. Rezaul Islam, the chief guest at the event was Louhajang UNO Md. Nesar Uddin. Special guest ATM Toufiq Mahmud, District Fisheries Officer, also spoke at the program. A welcome speech was given by Senior Upazila Fisheries Officer Md. Rezaul Islam.
The event was conducted by Fisheries Office Field Assistant Hawladar Md. Moniruzzaman. Other speakers included Upazila Livestock Officer Dr. Shyamal Chandra Poddar, Principal of Government Louhajang University College Muzammel Haque, Vice Principal Shahidur Rahman Shikder, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Louhajang Police Station Md. Harun-or-Rashid, Mawa Coast Guard Contingent Commander Md. Auwal, President of Louhajang Press Club Md. Shawkat Hossain, and General Secretary of Bangladesh Small Fishermen Association Nurul Islam Sheikh.
Following the meeting, a boat rally was held in the Padma River adjacent to Louhajang to raise awareness among the fishing community.
