BNP wins 3, Jamaat one in 4 seats of Faridpur.

In the 13th National Parliamentary Election, candidates with the BNP's "Sheaf of Paddy" symbol won in three of the four parliamentary seats in Faridpur district, while a candidate nominated by Jamaat-e-Islami with the "Scales" symbol won in one.

The unofficial results were announced late on Thursday by  Returning Officer and Deputy Commissioner, Md. Kamrul Hasan Molla. Residents thanked the district administration and law enforcement members for conducting the election peacefully and in an orderly manner without any violence.

Among them, Jamaat candidate Dr. Md. Elias Molla won in the Faridpur-1 seat, BNP candidate Shama Obayed Islam in Faridpur-2, BNP candidate Chowdhury Nayab Yusuf in Faridpur-3, and BNP candidate Shahidul Islam Babul in Faridpur-4. Out of the four seats, the victory of the Jamaat-e-Islami candidate in Faridpur-1 is the most discussed. It is reported that this is the first time Jamaat has secured a victory here since independence. This seat has traditionally been considered an Awami League stronghold. However, the Awami League could not participate in the election as the party's activities remain suspended due to legal reasons.

Returning Officer and Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Kamrul Hasan Molla announced the final unofficial results late yesterday Thursday at the control room of the Deputy Commissioner's office.

In the Faridpur-1 (Madhukhali-Boalmari-Alfadanga) seat, Jamaat candidate Dr. Md. Elias Molla won by a margin of 27,669 votes. He received 154,145 votes. His nearest rival, BNP's Khandaker Nasirul Islam, received 126,476 votes. A total of 8 candidates contested in this seat. The winning candidate of this seat, Dr. Elias Molla, cast his vote at the Kalpoha Government Primary School center in Madhukhali Upazila. His rival, BNP candidate Khandaker Nasirul Islam, voted at the Sautoire Government Primary School center.

In the Faridpur-2 (Saltha-Nagarkanda) seat, BNP candidate Shama Obayed Islam won by receiving 121,694 votes. Her nearest rival, Maulana Shah Akram Ali of the 11-party alliance, received 89,305 votes. Shama Obayed won by a margin of 32,389 votes. Six candidates contested in this seat. The winning BNP candidate, Shama Obayed Islam, cast her vote at the Laskardia High School center, and the rival 11-party candidate, Shah Akram Ali, voted at the Bahirdia Madrasa center.

In the Faridpur-3 (Sadar) seat, BNP candidate Chowdhury Nayab Yusuf received 148,545 votes. Her nearest rival, Professor Abdut Tawab of Jamaat, received 124,115 votes. Nayab Yusuf won this seat by a margin of 24,430 votes. The winning candidate of this seat, Chowdhury Nayab Yusuf, cast her vote in the morning at the Government Rajendra College in the city, and Jamaat's Professor Abdut Tawab voted at the Chunaghata Dakhil Madrasa center in the city. Six candidates contested in this seat.

In the Faridpur-4 seat, the BNP-nominated "Sheaf of Paddy" candidate Md. Shahidul Islam Babul emerged victorious. He received 127,443 votes. His nearest rival, Jamaat candidate Maulana Sarwar Hossain, received 75,805 votes. Shahidul Islam Babul won by a margin of 51,638 votes. Additionally, BNP's Shahidul Islam Babul cast his vote in Sadarpur, and Jamaat's Maulana Sarwar Hossain voted in Bhanga. Ultimately, 8 candidates contested here.

According to sources from the Faridpur District Returning Officer's office, voting took place peacefully on Thursday from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM without any breaks at 657 polling centers across the four seats in the district. No untoward incidents occurred anywhere. The total number of voters in this district is 1,771,923. A total of 28 candidates contested for the four seats.

The district administration stated that 716 army personnel, 13 platoons of BGB, 36 Executive Magistrates, and 14 Judicial Magistrates were on duty for election security. Alongside them, police and Ansar members were deployed at every center.
