BNP candidate Wadud Bhuiyan wins Khagrachari seat by huge margin

Ending much speculation, Abdul Wadud Bhuiyan, the BNP candidate for the Khagrachari constituency with the paddy sheaf symbol, has unofficially won by a huge margin in the 13th National Parliament election.
In the parliamentary elections held on February 12, 2026, voting was held in stages from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm.
11 candidates contested the Khagrachari constituency. Voting was held at 204 centers in the district headquarters and 9 upazilas.
The counting of votes from a total of 204 centers in this constituency began in the afternoon. The returning officer confirmed the results and announced the results after completing the counting of all the votes in the hall room of the Deputy Commissioner's office that night.
BNP candidate Wadud Bhuiyan received 1,51,040 votes with the paddy sheaf symbol. His closest rival, independent candidate Dharma Jyoti Chakma, received 68,315 votes under the horse symbol. Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami candidate Ed, Md. Eyakub Ali received 58,585 under the beard symbol and independent candidate Samiran Dewan received 47,910 votes.
On the other hand, Mithila Roja of the National Party got 1,024 votes, Md. Kausar of the Islamic Movement got 3,089 votes, Md. Nur Imlam of Insaniat Biplob Bangladesh got 683 votes, Deenmoy Tripura of the People's Rights Council got 755 votes, Md. Mustafa of the Bangladesh Muslim League got 184 votes, Ushepru Marma of the Bangladesh Minority Party got 1,030 votes and Jiruna Tripura of the People's Democratic Party got 904 votes and lost their deposit.
The total number of voters in Khagrachari constituency number 298 is 554,144. Among them, 280,206 are male voters, 273,904 are female voters, and 4 are third gender voters, with more than 27,000 new voters.
In this district, 144,355 votes were cast in favor of giving consent and 155,942 votes were cast against giving consent.
After winning by a huge margin, the winning candidate with the paddy sheaf symbol, Abdul Wadud Bhuiyan, said in a message to all the leaders and activists, "I have been elected due to the tireless work of all the party leaders from the district, upazila, municipality and union to the ward, people of all classes and professions, and the love of the common people.
This victory is not of BNP and me, this is the victory of the people.
