Coast Guard raided Shahpari Island and seized huge quantities of beer and liquor on Sunday afternoon.
Media Officer of the Coast Guard Headquarters Lieutenant Commander Khandaker Munif Taqi informed this matter through a press release.
On the basis of secret information, a special operation was conducted in the Katabuniya area of Sabrang Union under Teknaf Police Station of Cox's Bazar District by Bangladesh Coast Guard Outpost Shahpari at approximately 1000 hours on Sunday 07 April 2024.
If a boat's movement appears suspicious during the operation, the Coast Guard Expeditionary Team signals the boat to stop. But the drug smugglers on the boat, sensing the presence of the Coast Guard, quickly took the boat and tried to escape towards Katabunya Jhowban in Sabrong.
Later, when the boat was chased by a Coast Guard raiding party, the smugglers left the boat near Chaubon and fled. The boat was then searched and 480 cans of Andaman Gold Beer and 116 bottles of Grand Royal Signature Liquor were seized.
The seized beer, liquor and motorized wooden boats were handed over to Teknaf Model Police Station for further legal action.
