Beanibazar :A hotspot of Abroad Going People

Sylhet Bureau

Beanibazar Upazila is located in the eastern part of Sylhet. At one time agriculture was the main source of livelihood of the people of this region.

At present, expatriates from house to house, and the remittances sent by them are the main means of survival of the people of the upazila. Almost every house here has one or two expatriates. They are scattered in different countries of the world starting from Europe-America.

People's fortunes are changing after going abroad. Within a few years, tin houses are becoming buildings. Many of these expatriates have crossed over again illegally. And the people of Biyanibazar are leaving the country due to the temptation of emigration.

Someone is again choosing the terrible path to go abroad and turn the wheel of fortune. Illegal crossing to different European countries. In this opportunity, the human trafficking ring is also grabbing crores of rupees.

Talking to the locals, it is known that the people of this town have not turned the wheel of fortune due to the lack of opportunities for higher education and sufficient industries. When most teenagers turn 18, their parents start making plans to go abroad. They became desperate to sell their land and send their children abroad. And this opportunity is used by the human trafficking ring.

Lately, if you join a chat of young people, the discussion seems to come to a single point over everything else. Just what chat? The subject also comes up in the general discussion of relatives, relatives and friends. And that is, who is planning to go abroad. Who gave IELTS, when did the class start, Europe is better or America, or Australia or Canada. Talented and ambitious children of Biyanibazar are trying hard to migrate abroad. When asked if they will come back after their studies, many of them answered, 'Let's go first, then we'll see.' Some of them say that there is a 'life' in the country or city where they have gone. Studying, working, chatting, traveling—everything is going on.

Dr. Ahmad Hossain, a well-known doctor of Biyanibazar, is reluctant to call this tendency of young people negative in any way. He said, there has been a silent revolution in higher education abroad.

There is such a situation everywhere in the upazila that now even the middle class, the children of ordinary poor families and even farmers are going to UK, Germany, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, USA, Canada, Australia for higher education.

There has been another change in the field of foreign travel in Biyanibazar. In recent times parents from middle class families are also sending their daughters abroad for higher education. Earlier parents usually gave permission to send girls abroad after marriage. Now girls can go before marriage.

Ataur Rahman, the former president of Biyanibazar Press Club and head teacher of Dasaura High School, said that those who go to study or get work there after studying, get permission for permanent residence, hear everyone's news and see pictures.

At one time, the Middle East was a major destination for expatriate workers. People went to the Middle East in droves. Many of these expatriate workers were less educated. Many did not even have technical skills. The Middle East is still the biggest labor market for Bangladeshis. In addition to this, the residents of Biyanibazar are running for education or work in many developed countries including Europe, United Kingdom, United States, Canada, Australia. A large part of them are young. Some of the locally established businessmen and employees are leaving the country.

Many people risk their lives to cross the desert, forest and sea to Europe-America. If their luck is good, they reach Europe, America with their lives, or drown in the sea. Even if he can reach Europe again, he cannot get asylum.

Advocate Md. Aman Uddin, president of Sujan Biyanibazar branch, said, speaking to many people who have gone abroad on student visa or are preparing to go, it is known that they cannot get a job even after completing higher education, lack of work according to their qualifications, financial insecurity, uncertainty about good medical treatment, no service without corruption. Uncertainty about access to justice, polluted environment, concerns about the future of children encourage them to leave the country.

According to Bianibazar Thana police sources, an average of 500 police clearance certificates are being issued here per month.
