Bashundhara Paper Mills Limited (BPML) and Bashundhara Multi Paper Industries Limited (BMPIL), collectively known as the Paper Sector of Bashundhara Group, have been awarded an Honourable Mention in the category of Industry Innovation and Infrastructure at the SDG Brand Champion Awards 2024.

This recognition highlights the sector's innovative project to reduce carbon emissions and enhance sustainable production processes.

The award celebrates the installation of a state-of-the-art Precipitated Calcium Carbonate (PCC) plant at BPML’s facility. This groundbreaking initiative captures carbon dioxide emissions from generator exhaust and converts them into high-quality calcium carbonate, a key raw material used in paper production. By integrating this advanced technology, the Paper Sector is reducing its environmental impact while improving paper quality and operational efficiency.

Syeda Rizwana Hasan, Environment, Forest, and Climate Adviser to the Government of Bangladesh, attended the event as the Chief Guest, alongside top industrialists from across the country.

Mohammad Towfique Hasan, Head of Division, Marketing, Business Development and Sustainability, Md. Mazedul Islam, Company Secretary, Sector-C, Bashundhara Group along with other officials, received the award for the organisation.

During the award ceremony, Bashundhara Group officials conveyed their commitment to environmental stewardship, emphasising that this initiative not only reduces waste but also aligns with the company’s ongoing efforts toward sustainability and responsible industrial practices. They expressed their dedication to continuing to implement innovative solutions that contribute to both environmental protection and the advancement of the industry.
