The people of Habiganj-2 Baniachong-Ajmiriganj are being misinformed about the upcoming 12th National Assembly elections, said Sadar-Lakhai-Shaestaganj (Habiganj-3) Constituency MP and District Awami League President Alhaj¦ Advocate Abu Zahir.

He said this while addressing a special discussion meeting on the occasion of Great Victory Day on December 16 at the local Ambagan High School grounds on Saturday at the initiative of Baniachong Upazila Awami League.

MP Abu Zahir also said that the Prime Minister has not given any such instructions to become an independent candidate in the parliamentary elections. Independent and dummy candidates are not the same. Baniachong-Ajmiriganj residents have started giving wrong explanations about it. The only candidate of Awami League in this seat is the son of former MP late Sharif Uddin Ahmed, District Awami League Legal Affairs Secretary Moyez Uddin Sharif Ruel.

He criticized the current MP Majid Khan and said that it is a shame to have to vote with a person of a boy's age. He has been elected as a member of parliament three times consecutively with a boat under the identity of Awami League, so why should he be elected as an independent this time because he did not get a boat.

It should be remembered that you joined the Awami League in 93 by holding the hand of late Sharif Uddin Ahmed. It is ridiculous that he will contest elections with his son. Those with whom he had a meeting in Dhaka are now under the flag of Awami League.

Those who do not accept the decision of the party and go outside the party are thrown into the dustbin of history. MP Advocate Abu Zahir also said that you have broken your promise. Do not deviate from the ideals of Awami League.

I hope you will work together with Awami League to win the boat by raising independent nominations by the next 17th. MP Abu Zahir called on the party leaders and workers to come directly and work for the boat instead of drinking water by diving to the bottom.

He also said that the time has come for the people of Baniachong-Ajmiriganj to pay off the debt of the late MP Sharif Uddin Ahmed by voting for Ruel as a boat brand. At one stage, the candidate of boat in Habiganj-2 constituency, Advocate Moiz Uddin Sharif, introduced Ruel among the present leaders and activists and expressed his conviction to win.
