Baliadangi Upazila was called 'mini Gopalganj' : Faruk Hasan

Faruk Hasan, Spokesperson of the People's Rights Council and party candidate for Thakurgaon-2 constituency, said that Baliadangi upazila of Thakurgaon was once called 'mini Gopalganj' because the Awami League had a monopoly on it for the past 37 years. But now we want Baliadangi to be known by its own name - everyone should know it as Baliadangi.
He said, "To transform this upazila, everyone including politicians, administration, police, teachers, journalists, and students will have to work together. Our unity will be the main force for development."
He made these remarks during his keynote address at a reception for students admitted to medical and public universities at Golden School and College in Baliadangi Upazila on Saturday afternoon.
He said, "There will be no more drugs, smuggling, bribery, corruption, extortion, or tender rigging in Baliadangi. We are working to stop all this. We want to take this backward upazila to the forefront."
Regarding political harmony, he said, "In the past 17 years, I have not seen such an event where people from all political parties are present on one stage. Earlier, an event meant people from one party. Now we are all together, on the same stage. We have to spread this message of harmony."
He said to the students, "You will get good jobs in the future. Then don't forget your teachers, the farmers and workers of this upazila, and your neighbors. Let human service be the main goal of life."
Osman Ali, director of Baliadangi Golden School and College, presided over the program.
Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Palash Kumar Debnath was present as the chief guest.
Baliadangi Police Station OC Shawkat Ali Sarkar, Upazila Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Professor Rafiqul Islam, Upazila BNP Organizing Secretary Khorshed Alam, and College Principal Raihanul Kabir were also present.
