The court has rejected the bail prayer of the main accused in the case of assaulting and attempting to kill a journalist of Lalmonirhat by strangulation and has sent him to jail.
Lalmonirhat Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Court gave this verdict on Monday.
CS SI Abdul Hakim of Lalmonirhat Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Court said, when the main accused of the case filed by ‘Saptahik Alor Moni’ Executive Editor and ‘Dainik Chitra Lalmonirhat’ Correspondent poet Helal Hossain Kabir, Sohrab Hossain (50), a moneylender and son of Mokbul Hossain of Mokra Dhdh Gachh village, Mohendranagar Union, Lalmonirhat Sadar Upazila, was produced before the court, I strongly objected to his bail. Considering all aspects, the court rejected the bail.
State party lawyer Adv. Md. Samsul Alam Milon said, on 9 August at around 8 pm Mokbul and his 4 sons along with their relatives attacked journalist Helal Hossain Kabir. It is very tragic that an important citizen of the state, a soldier of the pen, Helal Hossain Kabir, was abducted from in front of his house, beaten and attempted to be killed by strangulation. The plaintiff and his mother are undergoing treatment in the hospital. The state has not given anyone the right to act illegally. Everything should be according to the law of the state.
The state party lawyer also said, since Sohrab Hossain along with 11 accused attacked the journalist with the intention to kill and there the mother was injured while trying to save the son, objection was raised on behalf of the state. Considering all aspects, the learned court has rejected the bail of the accused Sohrab and sent him to jail custody.
