Australia has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Bangladesh in addressing the Rohingya crisis by signing a new multi-year aid agreement worth AUD 18 million (approximately Tk 155 crore) with BRAC to assist refugees and host communities.
Australian High Commissioner Susan Ryle and BRAC Executive Director Asif Saleh signed the agreement on Wednesday in the presence of Disaster Management and Relief Minister Asadul Habib Dulu MP.
Under the partnership, BRAC will deliver healthcare, water and sanitation, education, disaster risk management, skill development, and protection services across Cox's Bazar and Bhasan Char.
Addressing the signing ceremony, Disaster Management and Relief Minister Asadul Habib Dulu emphasized that the Rohingya crisis is an international humanitarian emergency rather than a sole burden on Bangladesh.
State Minister for Disaster Management and Relief M. Iqbal Hossain MP was also present at the event.
