The Indian Border Security Force (BSF) has attempted to push 11 people, including children, into Bangladesh in the dark of night at the South Balihara border area of Haripur Union No. 5 of Haripur Upazila of Thakurgaon.

However, the process of preventing this infiltration attempt is underway due to strict vigilance and activity of the local general public and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB).

According to local sources, an attempt was made to push a group of 11 people, including children, into Bangladesh by crossing the barbed wire in the South Balihara border area late last night. Upon learning of the incident, local villagers immediately gathered and informed the BGB.

Upon receiving the information, BGB members of Basalgaon/Mashangaon BOP quickly reached the spot and took position. It is learnt that the infiltrators are still staying near the zero line of the border due to the strict stance of the local people and BGB. The group that was detained or trying to infiltrate also includes women and children.

When asked about the current situation on the border, local UP Chairman/Member Mobasher/Kuthub Uddin said that some people were trying to push them across in the dark of night. They were not successful as the BGB and villagers were alert. The situation is now tense across the border and the BGB has intensified patrols.

The BGB has informed that it is on the highest alert to secure the border and prevent any kind of illegal infiltration. Preparations are underway for a flag meeting with the BSF in this regard.

As of the latest news, discussions and processes are underway between the border guards of the two countries to confirm the identity of the people at the zero line and send them back to India.
