A UP member was assaulted by the Union Assistant Land Officer at Madane in Netrakona.

The aggrieved UP member filed a written complaint tob the Deputy Commissioner seeking justice. Sharif Ahmed is UP Member of Ward No. 2 of Govindashri Union of Upazila. Syed Jahangir Alam is working as Assistant Land Officer of that union.

According to the written complaint, there is a football field in Govindashri Bargharia village. A few people including Mastu Mia of Govindashri village claimed the ownership of that field in BRS origin.Naib Jahangir Alam forbids people from going to the field when there is a problem with the matter.But on March 14, when Mastu Mia, who claimed ownership of the BRS root, wanted to cultivate it with his people, the local people blocked it.When tension arose between the two sides over the issue, it was calmed down by the intervention of a local UP member. Later that afternoon Union Assistant Land Officer Syed Jahangir Alam went to Govindashri Bazar with the police.UP Member Sharif Ahmed was blamed for this problem in the field and was shamed.At one point, in front of hundreds of people in the bazaar, the UP member got excited and had the audacity to beat up Shari by holding his shirt collar.The written complaint states that he was later threatened with death.

UP member Sharif Ahmed said,"There is a dispute between the two sides over the village's football playground.I am trying to solve the problem as a public representative.

After the incident of March 14, Naib Jahangir came to Govindashri Bazar with the police.He physically assaulted me in front of hundreds of people in the market, overpowering his influence.I filed a written complaint with the Deputy Commissioner on March 19 seeking justice due to such behavior of the Land Officer.

Syed Jahangir Alam, assistant land officer of Govindashri Union, said,"I did not insult UP member Sharif.He treated me badly.I have made a written complaint in this regard.

Chairman of Govindashri Union Parishad Maidul Islam Khan said, "I heard that Naib pushed and insulted my council member Sharif.

Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) ATM Arif said, "I have come to know about the UP member's written complaint against Govindashri Assistant Land Officer."UNO Sir has ordered to submit a report in this regard.
