Arms, ammunition recovered in special Army operation in Matiranga

In a special Army operation, the Matiranga 18 Field Regiment Artillery of Khagrachari recovered indigenously made arms and ammunition on Monday. 

Members of the Matiranga Army Zone recovered these from the Daldholipara area under the zone late at night.

Zone Commander Lt  Col Ibrahim Adham confirmed the matter to the media through a press release in the afternoon.

According to army sources, based on secret information, members of the Matiranga Zone conducted a special operation late at night in the Daldholipara area of Matiranga Upazila.  The armed militants fled after knowing the presence of the army. During this, 2 houses and the area adjacent to the houses were searched and 1 locally made single-barrel gun, 4 rounds of cartridges, 1 walkie-talkie and 5 mountain guns abandoned by the terrorists were seized.

These recovered weapons, ammunition and other equipment were handed over to the Matiranga Police Station.

Zone Commander Lt  Col Ibrahim Adham said, Bangladesh Army is playing an important role in recovering illegal weapons in the mountains and preventing any terrorist activities in maintaining peace and harmony. Such operations will continue in the future as well.
