The Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Party continues to play a pivotal role as an auxiliary force in safeguarding the nation's sovereignty, reinforcing border security, and preventing cross-border crimes.

To streamline these operational targets, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed with the Border Guard Bangladesh in 2025. Under this framework, Ansar-VDP personnel have been actively integrated into border operations, rendering national border management and security protocols significantly more coordinated and effective.

According to the operational guidelines of the MoU, Ansar-VDP personnel are deployed in close coordination with the BGB to serve on the frontlines based on state requirements and security demands. Currently, members of the Upazila and Thana Ansar, VDP, and Town Defence Party have been successfully deployed across 11 strategic border districts. These designated frontier districts under active surveillance include Chapainawabganj, Naogaon, Joypurhat, Jessore, Jhenaidah, Satkhira, Thakurgaon, Dinajpur, Sylhet, Jamalpur, and Khagrachhari.

In tandem with the primary deployment, specialized units of the Ansar (Ansar Battalions) have been placed on high alert and kept structurally prepared to ensure a rapid response during emergencies and to supply additional tactical manpower at short notice whenever an urgent situation arises.

The institutional integration of Ansar-VDP into border security protocols not only fortifies the national security architecture but also provides crucial structural support to the standalone operations of the BGB. This joint initiative has fostered a comprehensive and sustainable security ecosystem, drastically enhancing surveillance, containing transnational crimes, and cementing the safety of local communities living along the frontiers.
