Another mass uprising will occur if attempts are made  to disrespect Liberation War : State Minister Ishraq

State Minister for Liberation War Affairs Engineer Ishraq Hossain said, "We hold the Liberation War. If any party or individual, whoever it may be, tries to disrespect the freedom fighters against the Liberation War, then there will be another mass uprising if necessary. But they will not be allowed to disrespect the Liberation War and Bangladesh. If necessary, they will be sent to Pakistan." He said, "We have been protesting and fighting on the orders of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, we have stood in the face of bullets. He is the son of the proclaimer of independence, we feel proud of him."

He made these remarks at a view-sharing meeting with freedom fighters after visiting the Bir Shrestha Ruhul Amin Memorial Museum in Nandiapara, Sonaimuri, Noakhali on Wednesday afternoon.

Referring to the July Movement, Ishraq Hossain said, "Today, those who want to erase 1971, you will notice that for the past 17 years, a group has pocketed the Liberation War and turned it into their personal property. They have looted Bangladesh, killed democracy and established fascism. Now another group is trying to pocket the bloody mass uprising of the people in 2024 and profit from it. But the people of Bangladesh are not stupid. The Bangladesh Nationalist Party believes in democracy. We want to leave all decisions in the hands of the people. Whoever the people vote for and elect will run the state."

He said, Bangladesh was established in 1971. Since then, many movements have repeatedly made Bangladesh bloody. If more movements are needed, the people of Bangladesh will do it. But if 1971 and the great liberation war are looked down upon, then we, the soldiers of Shaheed Zia's ideals, will see that it will never happen.

The State Minister further said that those who opposed the independence of Bangladesh in 1971, who raped mothers and sisters and who went from village to village to kill freedom fighters with the Pakistani army, today their party's arrogance is visible. A few days ago, in a talk show with Shamsuzzaman Dudu, Mirpur MP Baten openly said that Pakistan is good. He left there as soon as the topic of 1971 came up. However, Bangladesh was born through the great Liberation War. This is our existence, this is our identity. Through the Liberation War, we got an independent territory, a map, a flag and an independent-sovereign state. There will be no compromise with this.

Regarding the mass uprising, he said, for the past 17 years, BNP and all like-minded parties have been working shoulder to shoulder in the movement. During that time, hundreds of murders and disappearances have occurred. Many leaders, including Ilias Ali Chowdhury, have been disappeared.

Noakhali-1 MP Barrister AM Mahbub Uddin Khokon, Noakhali Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Shafiqul Islam, Noakhali Superintendent of Police (SP) ATM Mosharef Hossain and others were present at the time.
