Allegation of cutting trees despite subjudice matter in Lakshmipur, victims not getting redress
Md Alamgir Hossain, Lakshmipur
There has been an allegation that 10-12 trees, about 30 years old, were cut down from a garden land under court proceedings in the Shamserabad area of Ward No. 7 of Lakshmipur Municipality. An elderly woman, who was the victim, has not received any solution despite applying to the police station and the Upazila Nirbahi Officer for redress in this incident.
In the context of the complaint, it is known that Momin Ulya is the owner of 6.75 percent of the land in the former 105, 107 dags, current 5176 dags of Shamserabad Mouza under Laxmipur Municipality. On April 1, 2026, around 11 am, accused Main Uddin Pathan used his terrorist forces to forcibly cut down 10-12 trees, which were about 30 years old, on that land. The complaint states that there was a loss of about 1 to 1.5 lakh taka.
The plaintiff claims that the land is under trial in Civil Revision No. 45/2022 of the High Court Division and Civil Case No. 437/2022 of the Lakshmipur Senior Assistant Judge Court. Despite the High Court's status quo order being in force, Awami League associate Main Uddin Pathan, as a third party, illegally entered the garden and cut down trees.
In this incident, the elderly Momin Ulya filed a written complaint with the Lakshmipur Sadar Model Police Station on April 1, 2026, with SDR number 948. She also filed a written application with the Lakshmipur Sadar Upazila Executive Officer on April 6, 2026, seeking redress. But she alleged that she did not receive any redress due to the political influence of the accused.
The victim further alleged that while cutting down a tree, a part of the illegal boundary wall on Momin Ulya's land was damaged when a tree fell. Later, they are being threatened with false cases against them based on that incident and are being harassed at the police station multiple times in the name of a meeting.
In this regard, the accused government college principal, Main Uddin Pathan, denied the allegations and said that he had done nothing wrong.
Lakshmipur Sadar Model Police Station OC Wahid Parvez said that a written complaint has been received from Momin Ullah regarding the cutting of trees. On the other hand, Main Uddin Pathan has also complained that some parts of the boundary wall have been damaged.
