All candidates are equal to police: DIG Anwar

All candidates of the upcoming national election are equal to police and there is no partiality from them, said Deputy Inspector General (Operation) of Police Md Anwar on Saturday.

"To police all candidates are equal and directives are given so that all candidates get equal treatment in electioneering," he said while speaking at a press briefing held at the police headquarters, reports UNB.

During the election, 1.89 lakh police members will perform their duties across the country, he added.

Besides, police will also perform duties with mobile teams, striking teams and the magistrates, said DIG Anwar.

"Drive against illegal arms is going on and action is being taken instantly if found any information of clashes. Cases are being filed and police are also arresting those involved in the violence," he said.

The main task of police is to maintain the situation suitable for electionand some policemen were transferred and withdrawn as per the directives of the Election Commission (EC), he added.
