Md. Shahab Uddin MP has been announced as a candidate for Moulvibazar-1 Constituency in the 12th National Parliament election on Sunday.

Md. Shahab Uddin has already been elected MP from Awami League for four times. His popularity among the grassroots and common people is sky high. He was one of the sole candidates of the boat marker of Bangladesh Awami League in the 11th National Parliament election of 2018. In 1984, he was first elected as the chairman of Sadar Union of Barlekha Upazila.

After that election, he did not have to stay behind in the field of politics. He was UP Chairman 3 times consecutively. Then in 1996, he was first nominated by Bangladesh Awami League and was elected MP after defeating BNP's heavyweight candidate, former state minister Advocate Ebadur Rahman Chowdhury. In addition, he was elected to the 10th National Parliament in 2014 and the 11th National Parliament in 2018 and was elected as a Member of Parliament three times in a row. After being elected MP in the 11th National Parliament election, he got the responsibility of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change. He also served as the Government Party Whip in the 10th National Parliament in 2014.

He played a major role in the development of Juri Barlekha during his tenure as a four-time Member of Parliament, Whip of Parliament and Minister of Environment. Notable among them is the approval of the country's third Bangabandhu Safari Park in the Lathitila forest of Juri upazila at a cost of one thousand crore taka. As a result of extensive development, common voters including Awami League still trust Md. Shahab Uddin, who is known as a white-hearted person. Awami League's stronghold, Md. Shahab Uddin Awami League's nomination in this constituency again, the party leaders and activists, including the common people of the constituency, held a joyous procession.
