AL MP, followers attack journalists in Ctg

Awami League lawmaker from the Chattogram-16 constituency Mustafizur Rahman Chowdhury and his followers attacked on-duty journalists in front of the office of the returning officer (RO) in the city’s DC office area on Thursday.
They also damaged a camera, boom, and tripod of journalists at that time.
Witnesses said Mustafiz, accompanied by a huge number of leaders and activists, went to submit his nomination paper at the RO’s office around 11:30am.
When asked about the violation of the electoral code of conduct, he got infuriated and punched Independent TV reporter Rakib Uddin.
As other journalists came forward, the followers of the lawmaker carried out attacks on them.
The journalists lodged a complaint with the RO and Chattogram Deputy Commissioner Abul Bashar Mohammed Fakhruzzaman in this connection. He assured them of taking action after an investigation.
