Again LPG price hiked

The price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) has been increased to Tk119.40 per kg for the month of January, from Tk117.02 in December.
Retail consumers will have to pay an additional Tk2.41 per kg of LPG from 6pm on Tuesday, according to the Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC).
The energy regulator announced the new price, saying that retail consumers will now have to pay Tk1,433 (including VAT) for a 12kg cylinder of LPG, while the previous price was Tk1,404.
Prices of other LPG cylinders – from 5.5kg to 45kg – will go up rationally, BERC Chairman Md Nurul Amin said at a press briefing at the commission office in Dhaka on Tuesday.
As per the BERC decision, the price of “auto gas” (LPG used for motor vehicles) also increased to Tk65.76 per litre (including VAT) from Tk64.43 per litre.
The price of LPG, marketed by the state-owned LP Gas Company, will remain the same as it is locally produced with a market share of less than 5%.
BERC officials said the LPG price will witness an increase in the local market due to an increase in the prices of Saudi CP (contract price).
Bangladeshi LPG operators normally import their products from the Middle-eastern market on the basis of Saudi CP.
