Accused arrested in murder case of ex-army member over dominance dispute in Narail

Lohagora police  arrested the third accused Md. Zakaria Mollah alias Zakir Hossain (55) and the 10th accused Saddam Hossain alias Md. Zahidul Islam in the murder case of former army member Md. Akbar Hossain, which stemmed from a rural dominance dispute in Lohagora upazila of Narail. Uzzal Roy, District Correspondent from Narail, reports that on Monday  evening.

 Police arrested them from Lahuria Paschimpara in Lahuria Union of Lohagora upazila. Lohagora Police Station OC Md. Ashiqur Rahman confirmed the matter.

The arrested are: Zakir Mollah, son of deceased Rostam Mollah of Lahuria Paschimpara village in Lahuria Union of Lohagora upazila in Narail district, and Saddam Mollah, son of deceased Mafuzar Mollah of the same village.

It is to be mentioned that last Monday (31 March), a long-standing dominance dispute existed between the groups of Monirul Jamaddar and Milton Jamaddar centering rural supremacy in Lahuria Paschimpara of Lohagora upazila in Narail district. On Sunday, a clash broke out between the two groups over a trivial matter. As a result, on Monday afternoon, the two groups engaged in a fierce conflict during which Md. Akbar Hossain was hacked and injured by members of the opposing group. He was later rescued and taken to Mohammadpur Hospital in Magura district, where the on-duty doctor of the emergency department declared him dead.

 Lohagora Police Station OC Md. Ashiqur Rahman told The Country Today that two named accused in the murder case have been arrested, and efforts are ongoing to arrest the remaining accused.
