ACC raids N’ganj BRTA Office

Staff Correspondent, Narayanganj

To curb bribery related to driving licenses and vehicle fitness certificates, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) conducted a raid at the Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) office in Narayanganj.

The operation was led by Tushar Ahmed, Assistant Director of the ACC Combined  District Office, Narayanganj, on Wednesday morning.

According to the ACC, the raid was carried out in response to numerous complaints about irregularities in vehicle registration, fitness certification, and license issuance at the BRTA Narayanganj office.

During the operation, the ACC team, disguised as service seekers, interacted with several individuals.

At one point, a suspected middleman was detained and brought to the office of the BRTA head for questioning. Since no suspicious documents were found on him, he  was released after signing a written pledge and was warned against loitering around the office without reason.

The ACC team also advised the BRTA office head to ensure proper supervision to prevent harassment of service seekers and to strictly follow the citizen charter for service delivery.

Based on the information gathered during the raid, a detailed report will be submitted to the commission.

Mahbubur Rahman, Assistant Director of Narayanganj BRTA, confirmed that an ACC team had conducted a raid at the office and took away a file. He also mentioned that he was not present at the office during the raid.
