ACC raided Feni passport office on allegations of harassment, bribery

An investigation team of the Noakhali District Coordinated Office of the Anti-corruption Commission (ACC) conducted an operation on Thursday against the officials and employees of the Feni passport office on charges of extortion and bribery in providing passport services.
During the operation, the ACC delegation found the truth of the collusion of the brokers with the officials.
Several mobile phones of the involved were seized for further investigation. According to the investigation team, legal action will be taken after analyzing the data of the seized mobile phone and submitting a full report.
It is reported that a syndicate of local travel agencies, itinerants and professional brokers has been formed with some officials of the Feni Passport Office.
This syndicate demands money on various pretexts including changing the name, age and address of the passport in collusion with each other.
Applications are not accepted without specific seal and number. The ACC conducted the operation based on the complaint of a victim of harassment.
