ACC conducts raid on substandard materials used in road construction in Bagerhat

A complaint has been filed against the contractor M/s Shuvo Enterprises for using substandard materials in the construction of a 1-kilometer road from Polghat to Adarsh Gram in Kalabaria village of Bemarta union in Bagerhat Sadar upazila.
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Bagerhat has launched an investigation into the incident based on complaints from local residents.
On Thursday afternoon, Bagerhat District ACC Deputy Director Md. Mosharraf Hossain, Bagerhat LGED Executive Engineer Md. Sharifuzzaman and other concerned officials visited the scene.
Bagerhat LGED Executive Engineer Md. Sharifuzzaman said that due to allegations of using substandard materials in road construction, the concerned contractor has been instructed to stop the work and start a new one. The cost of the road construction is estimated at Tk 1.25 crore.
Bagerhat District ACC Deputy Director Md. Mosharraf Hossain said that samples of various materials including brick chips used in construction have been collected. These samples will be sent to the Bagerhat Road and Highway Lab for quality assessment.
