
A country cannot progress without its own culture : VC Prof Dr Nashim Akhtar

A month-long Bengali cultural festival -Baishakhi Mela organized by Chandpur Press Club and sponsored by Chandpur Municipality has concluded.
Chandpur Science and Technology University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Nasim Akhtar was present as chief guest at the function.
He said in his speech, a country cannot progress if it does not have its own culture. Our culture and language is better than many countries. Many of us are ashamed of our culture and language. We are forgetting our culture. Currently, cinema halls are closing down one after the other. We lean towards outside cultures. When man holds and cherishes his culture, man becomes a true man. To build a developed nation, culture must be embraced and nurtured. People of Chandpur are more talented than other districts. Current students from other districts do well. Because the people of Chandpur practice meditation and culture.
By doing this, Chandpur Press Club has been able to make the month-long Baisakhi fair a success. Chandpur Press Club President Shahadat Hossain Shanto presided over and General Secretary Rota. Chandpur Zilla Parishad Chief Executive Officer Manowar Hossain, Chandpur Municipality Mayor Zillur Rahman Jewel, Additional Superintendent of Police (Headquarters Circle) Yasir Arafat, poet and writer Rota spoke as special guests under the direction of Mahbubur Rahman Sumon. Dr. Piyush Kanti Barua, Secretary General Harun Al Rashid of Liberation War Victory Fair, Tapan Sarkar, President of Chandpur Combined Cultural Association, Shahid Patwary, Former President of Chandpur Press Club, Rahim Badsha, Former General Secretary and Kader Polash, General Secretary of Chandpur Television Journalist Forum.
In the speech of the special guest, Mayor Zillur Rahman Jewel said that the fair was very successful. We got the opportunity to sponsor this fair. There was celebration among people around this fair. Boishakhi Mela has proved – it is the festival of Bengali soul. This should be continued every year. The municipality will always have support. Upazila Parishad elections ahead. My appeal to you is that you go to the polling station and vote for the candidate of your choice. We will try to ensure that the election takes place in a peaceful environment.
Meanwhile, at the end of the closing discussion, the guests distributed prizes among the winners of the cultural competition at the Boishakhi fair. Competition sub-committee convenor Lion Mahmud Hasan Khan presided over the prize distribution ceremony. Former President of Chandpur Press Club Sharif Chowdhury and Sports Secretary MR Islam Babu were in overall management. Udichi General Secretary Zahir Uddin Babar conducted the cultural programme. Cultural activists including president and general secretary of various cultural organizations of Chandpur were present in the event.
