700 fleeing inmates still at large

Inspector General (IG) of Prisons Brigadier General Syed Md. Motaher Hossain said that about 700 inmates who fled from different jails during the mass uprising are still at large.
He said that a total of 2,200 inmates fled from the jails across the country and of them, 1,500 could be arrested.
The IG revealed this at a press conference at the Department of Prisons in Old Dhaka on Wednesday.
The chief also said 17 jails out of total 69 are risky in consideration of those establishments.
The government will initiate to rebuild those, he added.
