6 transformers stolen in one night in Gafargaon, farmers worried about irrigation

A gang of thieves stole 6 rural electricity transformers used for irrigation in Digha village of Raona union in Gafargaon, Mymensingh, one night. This has raised concerns about the disruption of irrigation of about 150 acres of agricultural land. The theft occurred on Friday night. A general diary has been filed with Gafargaon police station in this regard.
According to local sources, Makshudul Islam Ratan, a former policeman, son of the late Rusmat Ali of Digha village of Raona union in the upazila, used to install 3 transformers of 5 kB each and Saidul Islam, son of the late Hafizur Rahman of the same area, used to operate irrigation machines. About 150 acres of land of local farmers was cultivated under their 6 transformers. A gang stole 6 transformers on Friday night. Local farmers are worried about this.
Makshudul Islam Ratan said, I used to earn a living by operating irrigation machines after retiring from my job. But the gang of thieves set me on the road. I have filed a general diary at the police station.
Mymensingh Palli Bidyut Samity-2's Gafargaon Zonal Office DGM (Additional Duty) Md. Ziaur Rahman Khan said, I have received news of transformer theft. The theft cannot be prevented in any way. Before this, there have been more than a hundred transformer thefts in the Gafargaon Zonal Area. We have filed a diary at the police station in accordance with the rules in each incident.
