Six Rohingyas including women and children were detained in Kamalganj in Moulvibazar.

Locals arrested them from Munsibazar area of the upazila at around 10:30 pm last Wednesday.

The arrested Rohingyas are Mohammad Shaha (19), Noor Fatema (17), Akhlima (7), Junayed (23), Tahura (24) and Umayer (4). All of them are residents of Camp No. 5 of Kutubpalang Rohingya Refugee Camp in Cox's Bazar.

According to local sources, the locals saw 6 people including two men, two women and two children in the agricultural land near Munsibazar of the upazila around 10:30 pm. Later, if they were suspicious of their conversation, they detained them and informed the local chairman.

Later the chairman brought them from there to M/s Tushar filling station owned by the chairman. Rohingya ID cards were found with them. Later, they showed their Rohingya ID cards when questioned by Munsibazar UP Chairman Engineer Nahid Ahmad Tarafdar. Later they were handed over to Kamalganj police station.

Munsibazar UP Chairman Engineer Nahid Ahmed Tarafdar confirmed the matter and said that the locals detained 6 Rohingya including women and children and informed me. Later I arrested them and brought my business. Then I informed the Kamalganj upazila nirbahi officer and police. He also said that a Rohingya woman is 7 months pregnant. Rohingya ID cards are available to them. He also said that they came from the Rohingya camp through brokers.

The arrested Rohingyas told the police that on January 23, they escaped from Kutubpalong refugee camp of Ukhia police station in Cox's Bazar district to visit the shrine in Sylhet city. They came to the shrine of Hazrat Shahjalal (RA) in Sylhet. They could not say anything in detail as they did not understand Bengali language properly.

Kamalganj police station OC Saiful Alam said that the locals arrested the Rohingyas and reported them to the police station, then they were brought to the police station. The process of sending them to Rohingya camps is in process.
