Some 31 researchers have obtained PhD and 21 MPhil degrees from Dhaka University (DU) recently.

This was informed in a circular sent by the Public Relations Department of the University on Wednesday.

It is said that these degrees were given to them in a meeting of the university syndicate held on January 30. DU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman presided over the meeting.

The recipients of PhD degrees are - Jannat Ara Soheli under the Bengali Department, Tapan Kumar Palit under the History Department, ASM Mohsin, Zahiduzzaman under the Arabic Department, Md. under the Islamic History and Culture Department. Ali Karim, GM Tariqul Islam under the Department of Culture, Hussainul Banna under the Department of Persian Language and Literature, Khandaker Khairunnahar under the Department of Linguistics, Anima Roy under the Department of Music and US Rokeya Akhter under the Department of Sociology.

Besides, there are Mosammat Shamima Nashreen under Anthropology Department, Ain Akhtar Shimul, Fatima Tuz Zohra, Ashrafi Meher Nigar under Mathematics Department, Md. under Botany Department. Moshidul Islam, Shamima Nashreen, Rajeka Ferdous Tani under the psychology department, SM Abul Kalam Azad under the clinical psychology department, Shegufta Afrin under the pharmaceutical chemistry department, Mahbuba Begum under the electrical and electronic engineering department and Md. under the management department. Rabiul Islam.

There are also Dulal Chandra Gain under the drawing and illustration department, Bhadreo Rita under the graphic design department, Mohammad Ashraf Sadek under the education and research institute, Shilpi Rani Saha, Biplab Mallik, Sheikh Shahbaz Riyad, Md. under the Social Welfare and Research Institute.

MPhil degree recipients are – Idris Ali under the Department of History, Roxana Akhtar under the Department of Islamic History and Culture, Taslima Akhtar under the Department of Information Science and Library Management, Bulbul Das under the Department of Sanskrit, Tanjila Akhter Eva, Inzamam Mahbub Majumder under the Department of World Religions and Culture, Tahrima Bite Naeem Mou, Shamim Hossain under Political Science Department, Tahmina Dilsad under Public Administration Department and Mobaswera Islam under Communication Disability Department.

Apart from this, there is Farhana Shabnam under the Department of Chemistry, Md. under the Department of Biochemistry and Microbiology. Abdur Rahman, Sadeka Hossain under Clinical Psychology Department, Md. under Educational and Counseling Psychology Department. Rakibul Hasan, Rehnuma Mostafa under Management Department, Ya Afrin of Education and Research Institute, Sazia Mahmud under Nutrition and Food Science Institute, Shamima Akhter, HM Moniruzzaman under Social Welfare and Research Institute and Md. Obaidul Haque.
