
5 seats in Narsingdi : Awami League candidates will face tough challenges from independent candidates

In the upcoming 12th National Assembly elections, the the Awami League candidates will face a tough challenge due to the dominance of independent candidates in all 5 constituencies of Narsingdi.
Awami League leaders have filed nomination papers as independent candidates as there is no disciplinary system in the party if someone from the party participates as an independent candidate after the announcement of the party nomination.
Meanwhile, the leaders and activists of Awami League and other organizations have also divided and started working on the field with independent candidates. After receiving the party nomination, the boatmen are not in a cheerful mood.
Due to the dominance of independent candidates, in the past, the evaluation of party leaders and workers, the overall development work of the area, and their presence in the field during the Corona period have become stagnant. Locals believe that due to BNP vote, there will be competitive voting in all the constituencies. Although they did not get nominations from the party, the grassroots leaders and activists of Awami League and its affiliated organizations feel that there has been an opportunity to prove their popularity locally in the counting of votes.
Current Member of Parliament Mohammad Nazrul Islam has been nominated for Narsingdi-1 (Sadar) Constituency. District Awami League joint general secretary and former municipal mayor Kamruzzaman is participating in the election as an independent candidate here. Common voters think that there will be a tough fight between these two candidates.
Narsingdi-2 (Palash) Constituency has received the nomination of the current Member of Parliament Dr. Anwarul Ashraf Khan Dilip. Altamash Kabir is electing as an independent candidate here. He submitted his nomination as an independent candidate.
Altamash Kabir is a renowned politician, three-time Member of Parliament elected from Narsingdi-2 constituency and the eldest son of Manu Mia of T Ahmadul Kabir of the Daily Sangbad . He is a member of Awami League's Central Culture Affairs Subcommittee. He wanted the nomination of Awami League to contest in the 12th parliamentary elections.
Current Member of Parliament Zahirul Haque Bhuiyan Mohan and former Member of Parliament Sirajul Islam Mollah did not get nomination for Narsingdi-3 (Shibpur) Constituency. As these two parliamentarians were not nominated, Fazle Rabbi Khan, son of former parliamentarian Rabiul Awal Khan Kiran, who was killed by terrorists, was nominated. This time, the political family nominated the boat, but former MP Sirajul Islam Mollah participated as an independent candidate. Young candidate Fazle Rabbi Khan is facing a tough challenge. Locals are making such calculations.
In Narsingdi-4 (Manohardi-Belab) constituency, the current MP Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun has received the nomination of the party. In this seat which consists of Manohardi and Belab upazilas, there is a mixed reaction among the party leaders and activists on the minister's success and failure, along with party conflicts. Saiful Islam Khan Biru, former chairman of Swatshad and adviser of Narsingdi district Awami League. Boatman Industry Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun is facing a tough challenge in the announcement of Saiful Islam Khan Biru independent candidacy.
The same may happen in Narsingdi-5 (Raipura) constituency. Here again, 5-time member of parliament, former post and telecommunication minister, veteran politician Rajiuddin Ahmed Raju has been nominated here. Although Raju's contribution to the development of Raipura is undeniable. He may also face some challenges due to various reasons including party conflict, conflict in Char area.
