In Singair of Manikganj, 5 dacoits have been arrested in connection with looting goods worth 21 lakh rupees, including 85 thousand rupees in cash, 20 tons of gold ornaments weighing 8 annas and cosmetics worth 5 thousand rupees after cutting the iron grill of the balcony of a house in a one-story building after making them unconscious by mixing it with anesthetic food.

Manikganj District Superintendent of Police Mohammad Golam Azad Khan BPM, PPM Bar confirmed the arrest through a press release on Thursday (April 4) afternoon.

The arrested are- Abdul Quddus (50), son of deceased Sadek Khan of Waiznagar village of Singair upazila, member of inter-district bandit group, Md Arman (35), son of Md Parbat Khan. Based on the information given in their 3-day police remand, Md. Mizan (25), son of Md. Nurul Islam of Chaishani village of Jaimontap union, son of Md. Farooq, son of Md. Farooq of Char Madhavpur village of Chandahar union, active member of the inter-district dacoit group, conducted raids in various areas of Jaimontap, Jamirtta and Chandahar Unions under Singair police station. Md. Monir Hossain (37), son of Sohag (24) and deceased Hamid Ali, was arrested by police.

During the raid at the house of Abdul Quddus, the main mastermind of the robbery, 1 large ramada, 1 iron nose chirani (used for breaking locks and grills), 1 large sewing range, 1 sharp knife, 1 torch, 1 torch light were recovered among the robbery equipment. Apart from this, 5 bhari 3 anna 5 ratti of gold ornaments and 3.5 lakh taka in cash for the sale of the looted gold were recovered from the custody of the goldsmith defendant Md. Monir Hossain and 40 thousand taka in cash for the sale of the looted goods was recovered from the custody of another robber Md. Mizan.

It is to be noted that after being made sick by mixing anesthetics with food in the bandits, Pravasi Ujjal Sanyasi (37), son of Kamal Sanyasi, son of Kamal Sanyasi of Jaimantop Union under Singair police station, cut the iron grill of the west side balcony of the one-story building and entered the building at around 2:15 on Thursday, March 28. A violent robbery occurred.

In the incident, Pooja Sarkar (23), the wife of expatriate Ujjal Sanyasi, filed a statement as a plaintiff, and a case was registered against 4 unidentified miscreants in Singair Police Station Case No-38/110, Tang-29/03/2024ing, Section-328/457/394 of the Penal Code. . Singair Thana police managed to arrest the robbers in a smart operation.

District Superintendent of Police also said that 2 dacoits who were remanded on April 4 and 5 dacoits who were arrested have been handed over to the learned court. Dakat Abdul Quddus, Md. Mizan, Sohag and Md. Monir Hossain said that they will voluntarily give a confessional statement in accordance with Section 164 of the Criminal Code. 17 cases against Dakat Abdul Quddus, 8 cases against Md. Arman, 3 cases against Md. Mizan, 3 cases against Sohag are pending. Efforts are on to nab other absconding robbers.
