5 Awami League leaders arrested in Kishoreganj

Five leaders and activists of the Awami League have been arrested in Kishoreganj on the charges of attacking students and citizens participating in an anti-discrimination movement in a late-night raid on Tuesday.
The detained leaders include M. A. Afzal, General Secretary of the Kishoreganj District Awami League; Enayet Karim Ami, Forest and Environment Affairs Secretary; Shamsul Islam Masum, Religious Affairs Secretary; Azizul Haque Motahar, President of the Tarail Upazila Awami League; and Gias Uddin Laki, General Secretary of the Tarail Upazila Awami League.
According to Mohammad Tariqul Islam, OC of Kishoreganj Sadar Model Police Station, the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested M. A. Afzal, Enayet Karim Ami, and Shamsul Islam Masum from their residences in the district town on Tuesday morning.
Separately, Tarail Police Station OC Sohel Mia stated that Azizul Haque Motahar and Gias Uddin Laki were arrested in connection with a case filed at Kishoreganj Sadar Police Station. Azizul Haque Motahar was apprehended from Kalma village in Dhala Union of Tarail Upazila at around 3 AM, while Gias Uddin Laki was arrested from Kalna village in Sachail Union of the same upazila.
