5 autorickshaw passengers killed in Burichong

Five passengers of an autorickshaw were killed as a train rammed the vehicle in Burichang Upazila of Cumilla on Tuesday morning.
The deceased are Rafiq Mia, Saju Mia, Lutfa Begum, Sanu Begum and Safarjan Begum of Bakshimul village in Burichang upazila.
The accident occurred around 10:30am at Kalikapur rail crossing in Bakshimul Union of the upazila.
Burichang Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Azizul Haque said that the Dhaka-bound Subarna Express train, which left Chattagram at 10:30 am, hit a passenger auto-rickshaw while crossing an illegal rail crossing in Kalikapur area of Burichang upazila. Four people in the auto-rickshaw were killed on the spot. Another passenger died later on the way to the hospital.
Liakat Ali Majumder, Senior Deputy Assistant Engineer (Roads) of Railway Cumilla, also confirmed the matter.
