46 families of July Revolution martyrs get financial assistance in Rajshahi

The July Shahid Smriti Foundation has distributed donation cheques to 46 families of Rajshahi Division who were killed in the July Revolution.

Sarjis Alam, General Secretary of the July Shahid Smriti Foundation and Chief Organizer of the National Citizens Committee, was present at the cheque distribution ceremony organized at the Rajshahi District Shilpakala Academy auditorium on Saturday afternoon.

Sarjis Alam said in his speech that the bodies of the martyrs who were martyred in the July Revolution on the 24th cannot be exhumed for the trial of the murder cases. I would like to tell everyone involved in the trial of the murder cases that you are sitting on that chair over the blood of the brother's life, you cannot exhume their bodies after four months in the name of trial. At this time, he demanded that exemplary punishment be ensured for those involved in the July murders.

He said that he wants to keep faith in the huge family of 250,000 policemen, and that the negative shadow cast on the image of the entire police force during the 24th movement should be restored by the police members concerned through cooperation in the July killings with 100% transparency.

Addressing the members of the martyred families present, the General Secretary of the July Shaheed Smriti Foundation said, "As long as this Bangladesh exists, as long as you exist, this foundation will stand by you with the maximum from its place. Today's step is just the beginning. He expressed his determination to stand by the families of the martyrs in the July Revolution in exchange for anything."

Rajshahi Divisional Commissioner Khondaker Azim Ahmed, who was present at the event, said in his speech, "We may not be able to give anything in return for the sacrifices of the brave martyrs. But we will stand by the families they left behind. It is our sacred duty to distribute grants or scholarships among the martyred families fairly and to build a bright future for the children of the martyred families."

Stating that the war is not over yet, the Divisional Commissioner sought everyone's cooperation in fulfilling the assigned duties by retaining the spirit that the students and the public have given to build a Bangladesh without discrimination through the movement.

Among others present at the event were the central coordinators of the anti-discrimination student movement, Rajshahi Range DIG Md. Alamgir Rahman, Police Commissioner Mohammad Abu Sufian, Rajshahi District Commissioner Afia Akhtar, Police Superintendent Mohammad Anisuzzaman, officials and employees of various government departments, students of educational institutions, and journalists from print and electronic media were present.
