36 nominations valid,17 canceled, 7 pending in Rajshahi

The scrutiny of nomination papers of all the candidates has been completed on Sunday. Deputy Commissioner and Returning Officer Shamim Ahmed and election related officials has declared who are candidates valid and invalid.
The nomination papers of four 'rebel' or independent candidates of Awami League have been canceled in Rajshahi-1 seat. Those who are on the cancellation list are former president of Tanor Upazila Awami League Golam Rabbani, Awami League leader Akhtaruzzaman, Ayesha Akhter Dalia and actress Mahia Mahi. All four of them did not seek Awami League nomination and later submitted their nomination papers to vote as independents.
District Returning Officer Shamim Ahmed said, the reason for canceling Mahir's nomination paper is that according to the rules, signatures of 1 percent of the total voters of the seat are required. Samples of three voters were not found in Mahir's nomination paper. Besides, one voter's address has been given wrongly. That voter is a resident of Nachol Upazila of Chapainawabganj. But his address is mentioned as Tanor in Rajshahi. Golam Rabbani voter's list with the address of three people was not found. The correct information of 9 voters of Akhtaruzzaman was not found. And the correct information of 7 voters of Dalia is not available.
The nomination of six candidates of Rajshahi-2 (Sadar) seat has been declared cancelled. District Returning Officer and District Commissioner Shamim Ahmed made this announcement on Sunday (December 3). Among them, incorrect information, forged signatures and incomplete information were found. Those whose nominations have been declared invalid are Awami League workers Adv. Abu Raihan Masud, former councilor and Awami League worker Rejaun Nabi Al Mamun, vice-president of Metropolitan Awami League Principal Shafiqur Rahman Badsha, and former Metropolitan Jatiya Party President Leader Shahabuddin Bachchu. All of them were independent candidates. In addition, the nomination has been declared invalid by Trinamool BNP candidate Md. Shamim's Information of default was found against him.
However, the nominations for this seat are valid, Workers Party General Secretary Fazle Hossain Badsha, Metropolitan Awami League President Hero Freedom Fighter Mohammad Ali Kamal, Metropolitan Jasad President Abdullah Al Masud Shibli, Jatiya Party Metropolitan Convenor Saiful Islam Swapan, BNM candidate Kamrul Hasan, Muktizot candidate Yasir. Alif bin Habib, Bangladesh Congress candidate Maruf Shahriar.
The nomination of three candidates in Rajshahi-3 seat has been declared invalid. Two more candidates are also pending. The candidates whose nominations were invalid are Ganafront candidate Moniruzzaman, independent candidate Nipu Hossain and Shahabuddin Bachchu. NPP candidate Saibur Rahman and Muktizot candidate Enamul Haque are waiting. The nominees for this seat are Awami League nominated candidate Asaduzzaman Asad, independent candidate Ayen Uddin, BNM candidate Matiur Rahman Montu, Jatiya Party candidate Solaiman Hossain, another candidate Abdus Salam, BNF candidate Bajlur Rahman.
One candidate has been declared invalid in Rajshahi-4 seat. He is independent candidate Babul Hossain. Also pending are NPP candidate Jinnatun Islam Jinnah, BNF candidate Matiur Rahman and Jatiya Party candidate Abu Taleb Pramanik. The candidates for this seat are Awami League nominated candidate Abul Kalam Azad, independent candidate Enamul Haque, BNM candidate Saiful Islam Raihan.
Both submitted nominations as independent candidates from Rajshahi-5.
The nomination of two of them has been declared invalid. One of them is former organizing secretary of district Awami League Ahsanul Haque Masud and the other is former vice president of district Jubo League Obaidur Rahman. Deputy Commissioner and Returning Officer Shamim Ahmed announced this. District Awami League general secretary and nominated candidate Kazi Abdul Wadud Dara, independent candidate Dr. Mansur Rahman, Gano Front candidate Mokhlesur Rahman, BSP candidate Altaf Hossain Molla, Zaker Party candidate Shafiqul Islam, BNM candidate Shariful Islam and Jatiya Party's Abul Hossain.
The nomination of seven candidates in Rajshahi-6 seat has been declared valid. Also, the nominations of two candidates have been declared invalid. They are independent candidates Khairul Islam and Israfil Biswas. Nominations have been declared valid for this seat, Awami League nominated candidate Shahriar Alam, independent candidate Raihanul Haque, Jasad candidate Zulfikar Mannan Jami, NPP candidate Mohsin Ali, Zaker Party candidate Ripon Ali, Jatiya Party candidate Shamsuddin Rintu, BNM candidate Abdus Samad.
