3 drug peddlers, including two women, arrested in Nesarabad, marijuana, yaba seized

Police have arrested three people, including two female drug dealers, in separate raids in Nesarabad, Pirojpur. On Wednesday at around 7 pm and in different areas of the upazila that night, 75 grams of marijuana and 4 pieces of Yaba tablets were recovered from them.
The three arrested were sent to Pirojpur court on Thursday morning.
According to police sources, Rabeya Akhter Sathi (30), an accused in seven drug cases, along with 50 grams of marijuana, was arrested from Dhalhar village of Atghar-Kuriyana union of the upazila on Wednesday (June 24) at around 7 pm. On the same day, police arrested Shilpi Begum (38), an accused in three drug cases, along with 4 pieces of Yaba tablets, from Ward No. 1 area of Swarupkathi municipality. On the same night, Md. Kawsar Hossain (33) was arrested from Hula area of Jilbari village of Baldia union of the upazila with 25 grams of marijuana. Both Sathi and Shilpi are identified drug dealers of the upazila. Separate cases have been filed against them under the Narcotics Control Act.
Arrested Rabeya Akhter Sathi is the daughter of Md. Jalil Mia of Kamarkathi village in Jalabari union of the upazila. Artist Begum is the daughter of Md. Afzal Hossain of Ward No. 1 of Swarupkathi municipality. Kawsar Hossain is the son of Md. Abul Kalam of Chinabunia village in Daihari union of the upazila.
According to local sources, Rabeya Akhter Sathi had been running a drug business in the area for a long time. Although the locals had repeatedly formed human chains and complained to the police station against him, no effective action had been taken in the past. At one stage, the local people arrested him with drugs and chased him out of the area. Later, he went into hiding for a few days and resumed drug dealing.
Meanwhile, artist Begum had been selling drugs for a long time from her home in the North Swarupkathi area of Swarupkathi Municipality.
Nesarabad Police Station OC Md. Mehedi Hasan said, "Our regular campaign against drugs is continuing. No matter who the drug dealer is, no one will be spared."
