239 tons of green chilies arrived thru' Hili Land Port in a single day

Importers have increased the import of raw chili from India through Hili land port in Dinajpur to keep the domestic market prices normal. In a single day, 239 tons of raw chili were imported in 29 trucks. Whereas 8 to 10 trucks were imported daily. Now 15 to 17 trucks are being imported.
 
As of Thursday evening (August 21), 239 tons of green chilies have been imported from India in 29 trucks through the Hili land port.
 
According to customs sources, 618 tons of green chilies were imported in 72 trucks in 6 days through Hili Port in one week.
 
Importers say that the price of raw chilies in the domestic market has increased due to the damage caused by floods and droughts in the country. Currently, the demand for raw chilies imported from India has increased. Due to the demand in the domestic market, we have increased the import of raw chilies from India. Due to the demand, the import has increased. We hope that the price of raw chilies will come down in a few days.
 
In the port market, the wholesale price of raw chili is 170 to 180 taka per kg. And in India, it is bought for 80 to 90 rupees per kg. The duty per kg is 37 taka. The imported raw chili is being supplied to various parts of the country including Dhaka, Chittagong, Bogra.
