
1kg of gold seized at Chattogram airport

A joint team of the National Security Intelligence (NSI) and the Customs officials detained three inbound passengers from Dubai and recovered a kilogram of gold from their possessions at Chattogram Shah Amanat International Airport on Monday.
The detainees have been identified as Mobarak Ali from Chakaria upazila, Mohammad Nazmul Hoque from Satkania upazila of Cox's Bazar, and Mohammad Anwar Shah from Sandwip upazila of Chattogram district.
They arrived at the airport by a flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines around 6:45am, reports our correspondent.
Following their suspicious movements, the detectives intercepted the three passengers and searched their luggage, said Group Captain Taslim Ahmed of the airport.
During the search, the detectives recovered the gold concealed in their clothes, said the government official.
Legal action is currently underway against them in connection with the incident, he added.
