
176 more Bangladeshis return home from Libya

A total of 176 Bangladeshis, who were detained, endangered, or victims of trafficking after illegally traveling to Libya, have returned home. They arrived in Dhaka early Thursday.
According to reports, with the assistance of the International Organization for Migration (IOM), a Burak Air flight carrying these individuals landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka at around 4:15 am.
The Bangladesh Embassy in Libya has announced that two more flights on 19 and 26 March will repatriate over 300 additional Bangladeshi nationals.
The embassy stated that, through continuous and coordinated efforts, 176 Bangladeshis were repatriated with the support of IOM. Among them, 106 individuals had been detained at the Tajoura Detention Center in Tripoli, while the remaining 70 voluntarily returned home after facing distressing situations.
Since 2017, more than 9,000 Bangladeshi nationals have been repatriated under the supervision of the Bangladesh Embassy in Libya.
