128 bereft bodies buried in Cumilla in 15 months

Anjumane Mufidul Islam, Cumilla branch has buried 128 Muslim orphans in accordance with Islamic Shariah in the last 1 year and 3 months. This organization is a public welfare service giving organization.
Under the initiative of the Cumilla branch, religious and essential education has been imparted to orphaned children by running a Muslim Orphanage for boys. Helping to bury the bodies of disabled people.
It has been providing financial support to the medical services of helpless people suffering from incurable diseases. It has been providing free sewing machine training to make the distressed, widowed, abandoned women self-reliant. Along with conducting social and humanitarian activities including distribution of blankets among helpless, poor people, various national days have been observed.
Last year, the organization spent 2 lakh 56 thousand taka for burying 128 bodies. Last year, four lakh, 72 thousand taka was spent as all expenses including maintenance, education, treatment of orphan children of this branch. 60 thousand taka spent on free sewing machine training. Women have been getting well paid jobs in Cumilla EPZ with sewing machine training. Currently 8th batch girls are undergoing training. Last year, the organization distributed 600 blankets in two phases.
After 36 years of litigation with a land grabber over the long-term settlement organization's land, the organization recovered their land. Development work of Cumilla office will start soon. Currently, this organization is facing various problems, said the vice president of the organization, former administrator of Cumilla Zilla Parishad, Alhaj Md. Omar Farooq.
He said, Cumilla is an accident-prone area, that's why the number of dead bodies is high. Unclaimed bodies are increasing day by day. Anjuman's own graveyard in Cumillas Tikkachar cemetery is no longer available. When you go to bury a new body, another body is coming out. The organization has been burying new bodies by filling the soil with 364 thousand 700 taka from their limited income. Even then, when I go to dig a new grave, the corpses of other graves are coming out. The organization will face great difficulty in burying the bereaved bodies if they do not find a new cemetery soon.
The Executive Committee of Anjumane Mufidul Islam Cumilla branch changes every three years. The 21-member Executive Committee is being managed very well by all the members. Various meetings, events, iftar parties and entertainment expenses of this organization are borne by the committee members and well wishers. Therefore, funds of the institution are not spent. Cumilla Branch has undertaken many future plans in the light of the present.
Among the plans are procurement of ambulances for transporting patients and dead bodies, establishment of hospitals for the destitute, establishment of nursing homes for the indigent elderly, establishment of senior education centers, establishment of libraries for Islamic education and research, technology for making orphans and destitutes functional, earning and good citizens.
Setting up educational centers, arranging basic teaching of Islam to jailed and under-trial prisoners.
