Eleven meritorious students of the Department of Economics and Department of Political Science of Dhaka University have been awarded Trust Fund Scholarships.

Out of these, 5 received the 'Dhaka University Economics 1976 Memorial Trust Fund Scholarship' and 6 received the 'State Science Fellow Forum Trust Fund Scholarship'. Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. ABM Obaidul Islam presented the scholarship cheques to the students as the chief guest at a separate function organized at the Vice-Chancellor's conference room on Monday.

The separate scholarship distribution ceremony, chaired by Dhaka University Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Education) Pro Dr. Abdus Salam, was attended by Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences Prof Dr. Mohammad Mainul Islam, Chairperson of the Department of Economics Prof Dr. Firdousi Nahar, Chairperson of the Department of Political Science Prof Dr. Nasima Khatun, donor representatives of two separate trust funds - retired Professor of the Department of Political Science Md. Ferdous Hossain, Prof Dr. Munir Quddus, former Information Commissioner Suraiya Begum, Khairuzzaman Hira, Ahmed Ahsan, Ramendra Chandra Basak and Golam Hafiz Ahmed.

Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr. ABM Obaidul Islam congratulated the scholarship recipients and said, "We are trying to take and implement several initiatives to resolve various crises of the university and improve the quality of life of students.

At the event, donor representatives handed over a check of Tk 1 lakh to the Vice-Chancellor to increase the capital of the 'Dhaka University Economics 1976 Memorial Trust Fund'.

The recipients of the 'Dhaka University Economics 1976 Memorial Trust Fund' scholarship are: Afrina Islam Anika, Samiha Sara, Junaid Hossain Adnan, Tahsin Fuad Taha and Sudev Chakma, first-year undergraduate students of the Department of Economics.

The recipients of the 'Rashtavigan Satirtha Forum Trust Fund' scholarship are: Md. Sadia Khatun, Md. Zillur Rahman, Md. Abir Hossain, Tariqul Islam, Ritu Rani Saha and Farhana Parveen, students of the 1st year undergraduate program of the Department of Political Science.
