Dhaka University Soil, Water and Environment Department's 5 meritorious students who won first place in the MS examination of different years were awarded by 'Dr. M Osman Ghani Gold Medal' and 'Jebunnesa-Altaf Memorial Gold Medal' awarded to 5 students who secured first rank in Graduation (Honors) Examination. Besides, 13 meritorious students of different years got scholarship.

Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. ASM Maksud Kamal attended a function organized in the departmental auditorium on Thursday as the chief guest and handed over gold medals and scholarship checks to the students. The event was organized under the initiative of SWED-DU Trust, Department of Soil, Water and Environment.

Chairman of the Department of Soil, Water and Environment Prof. Dr. Md. Professor Harunor Rashid Khan, Dean of the Faculty of Biology, presided over the ceremony. AKM Mahbub Hasan spoke as special guest. Executive Director of 'SWED-DU Trust' Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtar Hussain Khan conducted the programme .

He urged the students of the Department of Soil, Water and Environment to play an effective role in conservation, agricultural development and achieving sustainable development goals. He said that students should be developed as skilled human resources and should work to build a prosperous Bangladesh.

It should be noted that in the program, 10 students were named 'Dr. Sahab Basit Scholarship', 1 student to 'Dr. FR Khan and Md. Bahauddin Chowdhury Memorial Scholarship, 'Nasira Begum Memorial Scholarship' to 1 student and 'Mariam Begum Khan Memorial Scholarship' to 1 student.
