1.10 lakh farmers to get incentive on pilot launch of Farmer Card: Agriculture Minister

Agriculture and Fisheries & Livestock Minister Mohammed Aminur Rashid announced that 1,10,364 farmers across the country will get financial incentives during the pilot launch of the 'Farmer Card' programme scheduled for September 17.
Speaking to journalists after inspecting the launch venue at the Government Pilot School Field in Fulgazi upazila on Wednesday , the minister stated that each enrolled farmer will receive Tk 2,500 on the inaugural day.
Besides, 7,643 farmers in Feni district will receive printed Farmer Cards. The government aims to gradually expand the programme to cover over two crore farmers nationwide to deliver state support, seeds, and fertilizers in a transparent and accountable manner.
Addressing concerns over agricultural inputs, the minister emphasized that there is no fertilizer shortage in the country and reiterated a zero-tolerance policy against artificial crises or price gouging. Monitoring teams are operating from 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM to take swift legal action against illegal stockpiling.
Director General of the Department of Agricultural Extension Md. Abdur Rahim and Feni Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Mahbubul Karim were present.
