Several days of heavy rain and Indian mountain landslides have flooded the lower areas of Madan Upazila of Netrakona.

As of Friday, 1,620 families in 34 villages are in water-locked condition.Low income families are in danger of food shortage as the water continues to rise.

Due to heavy rains and hill slopes, the water of Dhanu, Magra, Balai, Dhalai, Barni rivers is increasing.As a result, the water is increasing in every haor of the upazila.This has caused flooding in different areas of the upazila.

The area has been visited, the villages of Maghan, Nayapara, Padarak, Chatrampur, Jungle Demar Gati, Govindshri Guchgram, Shantipara, Rajalikanda, Kadamshri, Bagdhair, Barikandi, Bagjan, Balali, Dhubawala, Bhabanipur, Baithakhali, Lasharkanda,Deoshila of Tishri Union have been visited.various areas including Fatepur cluster village were flooded. Due to continuous rain and water all around, people are not able to go out and low income people are in trouble.

Maghan Union Parishad Chairman Zahirul Islam Khan Masud said that about 400 families of my union are in a water-locked state. I am in touch with the upazila administration.Rapid action will be taken in case of food shortage.

Samiul Haider Talukdar, chairman of Fatepur Union Parishad, said that about 300 families in some villages, including Biashi and Fatepur Guchch villages of my union, are under water detention.I am always looking for him.I am keeping in touch with the upazila administration so that no family falls into food shortage.

Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md Shah Alam Miah said that the lower areas of Madan Upazila were flooded due to heavy rains and landslides. As of Friday, I have received information that 1,620 families are in water-locked condition.Contour room, monitoring team, medical team, relief distribution team have been formed by the administration.The administration is prepared to deal with flood situations and disasters.
